Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al- Fujr  (The Dawn) - (98:1-3)

 وَٱلْفَجْرِ

By the dawn (of the first day of Dhū al-Ḥijjah) (or: the dawn prayer).

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

And (by) ten nights (of the beginning of Dhū al-Ḥijjah, the month of pilgrimage) (or: of the end of Ramaḍān, the  month of fasting)

وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ

And (by) the even and the odd (the 10th and 9th days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah, the Day of Sacrifice and the Day of ʿArafah) (or: the four daily prayers with even units and the sunset prayer with odd units) (or: whatever exists as a pair in creation and Allāh, Who is the One, the Unique).

1 Hadith

Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No good deeds are better than what is done in these first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” Some companions of the Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth at risk and he returns with nothing.”

Reflection Point

As you know we started the first day of Dhul Hijjah on Friday 7th June. This was confirmed due to the sighting of the crescent moon in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening after Maghrib.

Ok, so what does this mean?

This means that once we know the first day of Dhul Hijjah, we can identify the other key dates in the month.

So here’s a quick breakdown for the diary Insha Allah.

1st Day of Dhul Hijjah = Friday 7th June 2024

The Day of Arafat = Saturday 15th June 2024

1st Day of Eid Al Adha = Sunday 16th June 2024

As we have entered these blessed 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, we must strive our utmost best to perform acts of worship, such as fasting, charity, sacrifice (slaughtering), helping our parents, praying the sunnah prayers, dua  and many others from the legislated acts of worship.

This week, we have prepared an informative and simple but well structured infographic with the key dates mentioned above for you to share as a reminder for everybody in your community.

Don't forget that sharing reminders is a form of ongoing charity and one of the best ways to multiply good deeds.
