Something that can not be avoided.
Regardless of how rich, poor, strong or weak you are.
A humbling experience..
That reminds us of just how dependent we really are as human beings...
But answering the call of nature.
Has it's direction..

Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Baqarah (The Cow) - (2:222)
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلتَّوَّٰبِينَ وَيُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves (by taking a bath and cleaning and washing thoroughly their private parts, bodies, for their prayers, etc.).
1 Hadith
Aishah رضي الله عنها said: "Whoever narrated to you that the Prophet would urinate while standing; then do not believe him. He would not urinate except while squatting."
وَحَدِيثُ عُمَرَ إِنَّمَا رُوِيَ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُخَارِقِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ رَآنِي النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَنَا أَبُولُ قَائِمًا فَقَالَ " يَا عُمَرُ لاَ تَبُلْ قَائِمًا " . فَمَا بُلْتُ قَائِمًا بَعْدُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَإِنَّمَا رَفَعَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمُخَارِقِ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ ضَعَّفَهُ أَيُّوبُ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ وَتَكَلَّمَ فِيهِ

Oftentimes…
When we think about the nature of the human body.
We start to understand that it is a vehicle..
That carries the soul through life.
And when taken care of.
Will favor you.
And when not looked after.
Will trial you.
But what are the best ways to look after it?
Answer: Keep it clean and free from impurities.
Yes.
The call of nature.
In order for the body to function and fulfil its duty.
It must be free from impurities.
A humbling experience nonetheless.
But an experience that many get wrong.
Do we know the etiquettes of cleanliness when urinating?
Or do we just enter and exit the washroom..
While on the go..
Leaving a train wreck behind us!
It is always better and cleaner to sit or squat when urinating.
In contrast to what you see with the widespread use of urinals for men in public spaces.
It's a proven and tested way.
So what is the wisdom behind sitting or squatting?
Here are a few points to reflect over:
- Splash-back and Surface Contamination.
- Risk of Infection.
- Prostate and Pelvic Health effects.
- Bad odors on clothes & surrounding areas.
But most importantly.
To avoid a disaster in the wash room.
Squatting or sitting is key.
And it is the prophetic guidance of our Messenger Muhammad ﷺ.

And the cleanest way..
So we follow it.
This week, if you see your young ones picking up bad habits...
Loved ones..
Or family members...
Standing...
Not cleaning themselves properly..
Or leaving traces of urine behind...
Then encourage them with the correct etiquettes of sitting or squatting when urinating.
A hard conversation.
Yes..
But a much needed one!
