As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmutallahi Wa Baraakaatahu,
It’s your Sunnah Infographics Family here.
Hope you're well and in good health.
Sleep.
The one thing that many of us don’t get enough of.
The impact of good sleep as you get older becomes more important.
For the body to recharge, rebuild and re-energize.
But do we know the supplications of sleep?
If not..
Let’s find out...
Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Furqan (The Criterion) - (25:47)
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا وَٱلنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَجَعَلَ ٱلنَّهَارَ نُشُورًا
And it is He Who makes the night a covering for you, and the sleep (as) repose, and makes the day Nushur (i.e. getting up and going about here and there for daily work, etc. after one's sleep at night or like resurrection after one's death).
1 Hadith
Hudhaifah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) lay down for sleep at night, he would place his (right) hand under his (right) cheek and supplicate: "Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahya [O Allah, with Your Name will I die and live (wake up)]." And when he woke up, he would supplicate: "Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana, wa ilaihin-nushur (All praise is due to Allah, Who has brought us back to life after He has caused us to die, and to Him is the return)."
Reflection Point
Making sure that you get enough sleep throughout the night.
Is very important for your productivity during the day.
Going to bed late..
Means waking up tired and unreplenished.
And it drags into the entire day, affecting your productivity and effectiveness at your daily tasks.
Many people think that just getting to bed early is job done.
Not quite.
For example..
Even if you went to bed early.
Your sleep could be filled with bad dreams, interruptions, uncomfortability and distractions...
This is why we protect our sleep with supplications and practices from the authentic Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
There are many actions of the Sunnah relating to sleep.
But today we will focus on you learning and memorizing the supplications before you sleep and when you wake up Insha Allah.
Why?
Because we want you to have a sleep that is restful, enjoyable and free from distraction.
Remember that your sleep is in the hands of Allah.
So it is wise to learn the the correct etiquettes of sleep for you to reach this goal.
And thus lead to a peaceful nights sleep.
In this chaotic world we live in...
