Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al-Qadr (The Night of Decree) - (Quran 97:1-5)
بِّسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةِ ٱلْقَدْرِ
Verily, We sent it—(the whole Qurʾān)—down (to the lowest heaven) during the Night of Decree (for it to be revealed piecemeal thereafter).
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ
And what will inform you what is the Night of Decree?
لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
تَنَزَّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ
The Angels and the Spirit—(Gabriel)—descend therein by the permission of their Lord with (decrees) for every affair.
سَلَٰمٌ هِىَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ ٱلْفَجْرِ
Peace it is (for Allāh’s believing servants) (or: as the salutation from the Angels to every believer they come across), until the emergence of dawn.

1 Hadith
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ، عَنْ كَهْمَسِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ عَلِمْتُ أَىُّ لَيْلَةٍ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ مَا أَقُولُ فِيهَا قَالَ " قُولِي اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي " . قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
Aishah narrated: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is your view if I know when the Night of Al-Qadr is, then what should I say in it?” He said: ‘Say: “O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love pardon, so pardon me (Allāhumma innaka `Afuwwun [Karīmun], tuḥibbul-`afwa fa`fu `annī).’

Reflection Point
As the month of Ramadhan flashes before our eyes, we must take the opportunities that we have been given by Allah, to make the most of this blessed month. 1000 months is more than a lifetime in worship, in just one night!
So how can we miss such an event?
Naturally, towards the end of the month, we may find our bodies start to slow down and become tired due to the fasting, but it’s upon us to strive and push ourselves in the last 10 nights, by working righteous deeds, sincerely for the sake of Allah. Throughout these nights, what should we invoke Allah saying? ‘Say: “O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love to pardon, so pardon me."
