As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmutallahi Wa Baraakaatahu,

It’s your Sunnah Infographics Family here.

Hope you are well and in good health.

This week we have an important reminder for you.

We are in one of the sacred months of the Islamic calendar.

Al-Muharram!

And the day of Ashoora is upon us.

Ok.

But what is the day of Ashoora about?

Let find out more!

Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al- Tawbah  (The Repentance) - (9:36)

Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred, (i.e. the 1st, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th months of the Islamic calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein, and fight against the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) collectively, as they fight against you collectively. But know that Allah is with those who are Al-Muttaqun.

1 Hadith

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When the Prophet (ﷺ) came to Medina, he found (the Jews) fasting on the day of 'Ashura' (i.e. 10th of Muharram). They used to say: "This is a great day on which Allah saved Moses and drowned the folk of Pharaoh. Moses observed the fast on this day, as a sign of gratitude to Allah." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I am closer to Moses than they." So, he observed the fast (on that day) and ordered the Muslims to fast on it.

Sahih al-Bukhari 3397

Ibn Hajar said, “The fast of Ashura has three levels: the lowest is to fast one day, the next is to fast the ninth day along with it, and the next is to fast the ninth, tenth, and eleventh days. Allah knows best.”

Reflection Point

The day of Ashoora is a great day, as it is the day on which Allah saved Moses and drowned the folk of Pharaoh.

As a result it was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ to fast this day.

It is also encouraged from the sunnah to fast the day before and the day after.

The day of Ashoora, is the 10th of Al-Muharram..

Which will be this Tuesday, 16th July 2024 (tomorrow).

So schedule the fast it in your calendar for tomorrow and the day after Insha Allah.

So that you don’t forget!

If your not already fasting today...

Then you can plan to fast tomorrow and Wednesday Insha Allah.

This week, we have prepared an informative Infographic regarding the virtuous day of Ashoora and fasting it.

We have highlighted the days that you need to remember to fast. Along with some authentic narrations to support it.

Don't forget to share the Infographic through all your channels!
