The Day of Arafah

As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmutallahi Wa Baraakaatahu,

It’s your Sunnah Infographics Family here.
We truly hope you're well and in good health.
Because tomorrow is The Day of Arafah! 🗻
Where pilgrims will stand on Mount Arafah.. 🤲
Calling upon the Lord of The Worlds. 🌎
The Lord of the entire creation.. 🌳
The one who gives life..
And the one who takes life.
So, should we not call upon him alone for every need we have!
Let's really reflect today and prepare ourselves for tomorrow.

A day of fasting for those who are not on Hajj.
Ready?
Let's go Insha Allah.

Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al- Hajj   (The Pilgrimage) - (22:28)

That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade, etc.), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah), over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice) (at the time of their slaughtering by saying: Bismillah, WAllahu-Akbar, Allahumma Minka wa Ilaik). Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor who have a very hard time.

Hadith

The Messenger of Allah  said:

مَا مِنْ يَوْمٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَنْ يُعْتِقَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ عَبْدًا مِنَ النَّارِ مِنْ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ وَإِنَّهُ لَيَدْنُو ثُمَّ يُبَاهِي بِهِمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةَ فَيَقُولُ مَا أَرَادَ هَؤُلاَءِ

“There is no day on which Allāh frees more of His servants from the Hellfire than He does on the Day of ‘Arafah. Indeed He draws close and then He boasts of them to the Angels and He says: ‘What is it that they want?’”

(Muslim, no. 1348)

The Messenger  stated:

“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.” (Muslim)

Reflection Point 🧠

As we reflect today..

Think about the last 12 months of your life that has passed.

As we come towards the end of the Islamic calendar.

Reflect over..

Who have we lost?

What troubles we have overcome?

What blessings we have gained?

And if we will even make it to next years Dhul Hijjah.

Nothing is guranteed!

So make the most of these moments.

Strive to put something forth to the hearafter.

That you will be pleased with!

And be an example for The Muslims and society as a whole.

Because your good deeds...

Leave a footprint to good.

And your evil deeds..

Leave a footprint of bad.

So be from those who leave behind good.

Because those footprints..

Will certainly meet you again..

In a place of light..

Or a place of darkness.

This week, we have designed a simple infographic to remind you of the good actions that you can perform throughout these days, especially for tomorrow, when Allah will come close to the plain of Arafah asking...
" What is it that they seek?"

Today we travel to Mount Arafah 🇸🇦 ✈️

Mount Arafat, also known as Jabal al-Rahmah (“The Mount of Mercy”), is one of the most sacred locations in Islam and an essential site of the Hajj pilgrimage. It is located about 20 kilometers southeast of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The mountain itself is a rocky granite hill surrounded by the wide Plain of Arafat, where millions of pilgrims gather every year on the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah for the Day of Arafah.

The area around Arafat is large and open, surrounded by hills and desert scenery. Important landmarks include the white pillar at the top of Jabal al-Rahmah and Masjid Namirah, where the Hajj sermon is delivered each year. Modern roads, pathways, tents, transportation systems, and cooling facilities have been developed to safely accommodate millions of pilgrims during Hajj season.

Muslim Population at Arafah 👥

On the Day of Arafah, there is no official or fixed population count specifically for Mount Arafat, because the event involves the entire Plain of Arafat rather than just the mountain itself. This area becomes the central gathering point for one of the most important rituals of Hajj, where pilgrims spend the day in worship, prayer, and reflection. In modern Hajj seasons, the number of people present in Arafat generally reflects the total number of pilgrims performing Hajj that year.

This usually ranges between 1.5 million and 2.5 million people, although the exact figure can vary depending on factors such as government quotas, international travel conditions, and logistical arrangements. While it is often described as “standing on Mount Arafat,” the actual gathering covers a vast open plain, with the mountain itself being a small landmark within the area. Pilgrims spread across tents, open spaces, and designated zones, all participating in the same spiritual ritual of Wuquf (standing at Arafah). Overall, the Day of Arafah is one of the largest annual human gatherings in the world, with millions of pilgrims uniting in a single location at the same time for worship and supplication.
