Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Rahman (The Most Gracious) - (55:19-20)
مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ
He released the two seas (of the heaven and the earth) (or: of freshwater and saltwater) to meet (with each other).
بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ
Between them is a barrier (so that) neither of them transgress (the limit set by Allāh).
Reflection Point
When we look around at the creation of the heavens and the earth.
We often forget the miraculous nature of its creation.
And when we look at the vastness of the ocean.
It is certainly something to be in awe of.
The size...
The depth...
And the absolute unknown...
SubhanAllah.
However..
What if I told you..
1,400 years ago.
In the middle of The Arabian desert.
A verse was revealed to an illiterate man, who could not read nor write.
Revealing that the oceans of salt water and fresh water, do not mix.
Due to a barrier that has been placed between them.
Your mind would be blown...
Well this did indeed take place.
It was revealed in the Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
As a sign for Mankind.
It was only in the Mid-20th century (1950s–1960s), with advancements in technology (like CTD sensors — Conductivity, Temperature, Depth), that scientists could more precisely measure salinity gradients in oceans and estuaries.
Will you not then believe with certainty?
It's at times like this..
That we truly understand the Greatness of Allah.
الْقَوِيُّ (Al-Qawiyy) - The Possessor of All Strength
الْعَظِيمُ (Al-Azim) - The Magnificent
So believe in him...
And do not associate any partners with him in worship.
For verily the eyesight bears witness.
This week, your task is to sit down by yourself.
Or with family and friends.
And reflect over the greatness of the ocean.
And this miraculous ayah in the Qur'an.
Give it a quick Google.
And research the barrier between fresh water and salt water.

To remind yourself of this beautiful miracle.

Our bodies have been shaped and formed by water.
