Anger.

An emotion that often leads to complete destruction.

With anger being the cause of much harm in society.

There is a way to remedy it.

Let's take a seat to learn more.

Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Imran (The Family of Imran) - (3:134)

Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good.

Hadith 1

Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to us, “If one of you is angry while he is standing, let him sit down so his anger will leave him; otherwise, let him lie down.”

Hadith 2

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whom do you consider to be a fighter among you?” We said, “One whom men cannot wrestle down.” The Prophet said, “It is not so. Rather, it is one who controls himself when angry.”

Reflection Point

Think back to a time when you lost your temper.

Was the outcome fruitful?
Were you happy or sad once you calmed down?

It’s moments like these when we reflect back on certain situations..

And realise that anger was not the answer.

Anger is the door to every evil.

A quick way to destruction.
And an enticement from the accursed Shaytan (Devil).
So how do we catch anger before it overtakes us?
Well firstly...
You tend to feel a rush of blood to the head.
Tightness in the chest..
Your blood pressure rises..

And your heart beat starts to race.

These are just a few of the signs.
Now naturally...

Some of us are quicker to anger than others.
But that doesn't excuse anyone from loosing their temper!

Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Informed us of two important steps..
When you become angry…
  1. Sit down
And if the anger does not leave you, then..
  1. Lie down.
Very simple..
But extremely effective!
Again...

Wisdom and sound guidance from our beloved Prophet ﷺ.
So be mindful to catch yourself when you feel rage...

Look for the closest chair..

And take a seat away from the place of anger.

Or lie down...

Away from the place of anger.
This is how we save ourselves from hurting others.
And maintaining the ties between families and communities.
And perfecting our character.

Who said it was going to be easy!
This week, we have designed a very simple and extremely useful infographic to share with your communities to remind ourselves first and foremost, and others to control anger, preserve our homes and avoid a greater harm.
