This week, we will be looking at the 10 companions of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) who were promised Paradise (Al Jannah), based on the authentic narrations.

Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Tawbah  (The Repentance ) - (9:100)

 وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَٰنٍ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى تَحْتَهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

And the first to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansar (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhajirun) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.

Hadith: 

عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَعُمَرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَعُثْمَانُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَعَلِيٌّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَطَلْحَةُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَالزُّبَيْرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَسَعْدٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَسَعِيدٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَأَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ

Abdur Rahman ibn ‘Awf reported: The Messenger of Allah, (ﷺ), said, “Abu Bakr is in Paradise. Umar is in Paradise. Uthman is in Paradise. Ali is in Paradise. Talhah is in Paradise. Al-Zubayr is in Paradise. Abdur Rahman ibn ‘Awf is in Paradise. Sa’d is in Paradise. Sa’id is in Paradise. Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah is in Paradise.”

Reflection Point:

The objective of our life in this world is to worship Allah upon sincerity, fulfilling his commandments and abstaining from his prohibitions. The result of this is that a person reaches their true home and eternal destination, paradise. And ofcourse the opposite is true, in that a person who does not worship Allah, and does not fulfill his commandments, will enter their final destination, and that is the hellfire. So it is upon us all to strive in the path of Allah, with whatever we have been given in this world. The companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, were the best of mankind, after the prophets and messengers and were given glad tidings of Paradise. 

But here's some important food for thought!

They lived among the Prophet ﷺ and were informed of their guaranteed entrance to Paradise. But did their characters change? Did their fear of Allah change? Did their adherence to their faith change? 

No.

So how about us? 

We have no guarantee, yet we fall short.
