Walking.
A blessing many of us don’t think twice about.
We exercise...
We walk around our home...
We walk for leisure...
But know there will be a day..
When you will not be able to walk.
Until you are questioned about 5 things.
Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Nahl (The Bee) - (16:93)
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَٰكِن يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ وَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
And had Allah willed, He could have made you (all) one nation, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. But you shall certainly be called to account for what you used to do.
1 Hadith
Abu Barzah Al-Aslami narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "The feet of the slave of Allah shall not move [on the Day of Judgement] until he is asked about five things: about his life and what he did with it, about his knowledge and what he did with it, about his wealth and how he earned it and where he spent it on, about his body and for what did he wear it out.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَخْبَرَنَا الأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ الأَسْلَمِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ تَزُولُ قَدَمَا عَبْدٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى يُسْأَلَ عَنْ عُمْرِهِ فِيمَا أَفْنَاهُ وَعَنْ عِلْمِهِ فِيمَا فَعَلَ وَعَنْ مَالِهِ مِنْ أَيْنَ اكْتَسَبَهُ وَفِيمَا أَنْفَقَهُ وَعَنْ جِسْمِهِ فِيمَا أَبْلاَهُ " . قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ هُوَ بَصْرِيٌّ وَهُوَ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَرْزَةَ وَأَبُو بَرْزَةَ اسْمُهُ نَضْلَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ .
Reflection Point
Throughout our lives.
We have witnessed many criminals being taken to a court of law.
Stood in front of a judge.
Questioned about crimes they have committed.
And then a ruling is given based on the evidence put forth.
Now..
Sometimes it can be a wrong verdict and sometimes it can be a right verdict.
Human imperfection.
But..
Now imagine being questioned by the one who is aware of everything. اَلْعَلِيْمُ Al-`Aalim
Who sees everything ٱلْبَصِيرُ Al-Baseer
Who brings to account ٱلْحَسِيبُ Al-Haseeb
Yet, merciful to those whom he pleases.
The Most Merciful, The Beneficent ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيم
There is no hiding and there are no excuses.
A foot will not move until it is questioned about 5 things.
- A person's life and how it was spent.
- A person's knowledge and how it was used.
- A person's wealth and how it was acquired
- A person's wealth and how it was spent.
- A person's body and how it was used.
So we must ask ourselves.
Have we been productive in everything that we have been given?
Or have we been wasteful?
Have we allocated our resources to things that are meaningful?
Or have we wasted it?
Do we look after the blessings of good health and sound intellect?
Or do we abuse it?
It's at times like this, where we need to think about being more productive and utilising the blessings that we have.
In this world..
In a court of law..
There are breaks..
People go home to rest and sleep.
People prepare and plan their next steps.
On that day.
There will be no such thing.
You either did it or you didn't!
Reflect over these questions and try to make adjustments that are meaningful, productive and fruitful for your life.
Before a time comes..
Where we will not have the opportunity anymore.
