Today, we will touch on the importance of fulfilling the rights of our Muslim brothers & sisters. In today's media, we often hear the terms human rights, legal rights, civil rights, the right to education, healthcare and much more..
However, we find that many of us fall short in fulfilling the basic rights of our Muslim brothers and sisters.
So today we will share a short reminder on the rights of the Muslim insha Allah.
Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al- Tawbah (The Repentance) - (9:71)
The believers, men and women, are Auliya' (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); they perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give the Zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
1 Hadith
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Six are the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. It was said to him: Allah's Messenger, what are these? Thereupon he said: When you meet him, offer him greetings; when he invites you to a feast accept it. when he seeks your council give him, and when he sneezes and says: " All praise is due to Allah," you say Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah show mercy to you) ; and when he fails ill visit him; and when he dies follow his bier.
Sahih Muslim (2162)
Reflection Point
In today's societies, we can often very easily forget the rights that we have upon one another. We are thrown so many different rights in the media, that we forget our own!
We are busy working, studying, socialising, yet we don’t find the time to visit a sick relative or friend, attend an invitation to eat or attend the janazah at the local masjid.
The rights that have the most precedence as Muslims are the rights of Allah, to worship him alone, without associating any partners with him and to follow the messenger Muhammad ﷺ. If we adhere to this, then naturally we must fulfil the rights of our Muslim brothers and sisters insha Allah.
This week, let’s ponder and reflect over the rights of others that we must fulfil and encourage others to fulfill the rights upon us, whether you are sick, alone, in need of assistance, arranging a gathering or preparing a janazah for a loved one. Let your community know and remember the rights of the Muslim. This is what creates cohesion and cultivation of a strong Muslim community that is upright and steadfast insha Allah.
With the tremendous growth we have witnessed here at Sunnah Infographics, it truly brings joy to the heart!
With so many sharing our infographics across their communities, and tens of thousands benefiting from the reminders, we can surely reach our goal insha Allah.
