We hope you are well and in the best of health and emaan.

The time has come again for us to share some important and insightful points about the origin of Pagan festivals and the importance of Jesus (peace be upon him) in Islam!

A time in which they say Jesus, Peace and blessings be upon him.

Was born?

The 25th December.

Hmm…

Let's learn more…

Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Baqarah (The Cow) - (2:136)

Say (O Muslims), "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and 'Iesa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)."

1 Hadith

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I am the closest of the people to Jesus the son of Mary in this life and in the Hereafter.” It was said, “How is that, O Messenger of Allah?” The Prophet said, “The prophets are like brothers from one father with different mothers. They have one religion and there was no other prophet between us.”

1 Reflection Point

As always, we as Muslims must always dig a little deeper to find out the origin of something and its authenticity.

All it takes is a simple Google search from reliable sources of course, to find out the origin of Christmas!

This celebration stems from both the pagan and Roman cultures. The Romans actually celebrated two holidays in the month of December. The first was Saturnalia, which was a two-week festival honoring their god of agriculture Saturn. On December 25th, they celebrated the birth of Mithra, their sun god.

Both celebrations were full of obscenities!

As Muslims, we have to realize that Allah has given us the blessing of Islam to follow.

So why then do we choose something else to celebrate?

The Christians believe that Jesus, peace and blessings be upon him is the son of Allah, and in other cases they believe that he is Allah.

أَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطٰانِ الرَّجِيْمِ‎.

Here's a suitable example for you.

If a community that you knew had spread lies about a family member of yours, or even someone that you loved very dearly.

Would you join in their celebrations with them?

So what about Allah and his messenger?

SubhanAllah.

Let’s reflect over who our allegiance is with and stay away from the evils of pagan festivals that have become so commercialized that nobody knows the difference anymore!

This week, we have designed a really beautiful and informative infographic on the status of Jesus in Islam.

The the purpose of the infographic is to share it with Muslims and non Muslims during this period in order to highlight the high status that Jesus, peace be upon him holds in Islam.

Many non-Muslims, will be surprised to know that we follow Jesus, Peace and blessings be upon him and love him very much!

So let them know!

It's the perfect opportunity to handle those awkward conversations that we have with non-Muslims as to why you don't celebrate Christmas, or even with Muslims as to why we should stay away from pagan festivals.

Let it strengthen your emaan to stay on the side of Allah and his messenger, and help others to do so aswell.

For verily it is Allāh who is the Great Provider, the possessor of mighty strength.

Remember...

"Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like one who did it."
