A blessing that can be removed in an instance!

As many across the world have witnessed the tragic devastation from the earthquake that took place in Morocco this week. 

We ask Allah to aid our brothers and sisters in Morocco and to rectify their affairs and grant them security.

Ayat Al Qur’an - Surah Al Fussilat (They Are Explained in Detail) - (41:53)

سَنُرِيهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فِى ٱلْءَافَاقِ وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Quran) is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witness over all things?

1 Hadith

The Prophet ﷺ said:

لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يُقْبَضَ الْعِلْمُ وَتَكْثُرَ الزَّلاَزِلُ وَيَتَقَارَبَ الزَّمَانُ وَتَظْهَرَ الْفِتَنُ وَيَكْثُرَ الْهَرْجُ ـ وَهْوَ الْقَتْلُ الْقَتْلُ ـ حَتَّى يَكْثُرَ فِيكُمُ الْمَالُ فَيَفِيضُ

“The Hour will not be established until knowledge will be taken away, earthquakes become frequent, time will pass quickly, afflictions will appear, murders will increase, and money will overflow amongst you.” 

(Bukhāri, no. 1036)

Reflection Point

When reflecting over the recent Earthquake that took place in Morocco this week, it becomes ever more important for the Muslims to come closer to Allah, the mighty and the majestic. 

Whenever we go through a trial, we must always stop and reflect upon ourselves. 

Too often we find ourselves looking for someone to blame or point the finger at… 

But we should always start with reflecting upon our own selves and our actions.

We should also reflect upon the blessings of safety and security in our lands. 

Going to sleep, waking up, enjoying family time, seeking provision is all a great blessing that many take for granted. 

There are many lands across the world that wake up to bombs, shooting, destruction and poverty. 

Should we not then be grateful for the simple blessings of life?

It’s easy to get caught up in the new job, or the new car or the next investment.

But what about having your family around in a safe environment, free from danger?

Or being able to breathe fresh air, free from debris of destroyed buildings.

May Allah aid our brothers and sisters in Morocco and grant them safety and security.
